Floody Families in Anny, Parish of Aughnamullen, Co. Monaghan, Ireland

The image on the right is a fairly current GIS map from County Monaghan, http://193.178.1.178/Monaghan%5FgPlan/. The circle in the center is an ancient cemetery, where some of the area families are buried - unrecorded. To the right at about 2 o'clock along a line of trees is a small white building with a red roof. That was the Floody 'home place'.

** Newly found information gives me a Peter Floody, born c 1862-64, to Patrick & Bridget. Peter married Margaret Toye / Tighe in Broxburn Scotland in 1888. No one searching the Toye/Tighe family could find them in census records in 1890.

Seems Peter with his new wife, and some of her family went to Chile c 1888-90. Thanks for Niall Floody in Chile, we now know that the government in Chile was advertising in Europe for new settlers at this time - Like the homestead and land grants in US history! There are now many Floody-Tighe's in Chile. The mother's family surname is used at the end of the names. Great for family history!!

There was also John & Patrick Floody, that went to the Newcastle in Northumberland, England. There are many descendants of these two brothers in England today with whom I have had correspondence. Official records started in 1864 in Ireland, thus the missing brothers in the above list.

Mullanary Glebe: In the image to the right at 3 o'clock is a dirt road leading to a house in the field. That too was a Floody home. They are close by one another, Mullanary being a bit east of Anny.
